Three months after explosive allegations against Rick Jacobs came to light in a lawsuit, the political adviser continues to hold influence in Mayor Eric Garcetti’s administration. And more people—including this writer—are coming forward with their own allegations.
It’s a terrible feeling for any victim to come forward. It’s seems even more difficult for a man to come forward. I applaud all the victims that were hurt but this pervert. That officer was dismissed and discriminated against just cause of his job. No one ever believed him. He didn’t have a chance until now. All things done in darkness shall come to light.
Garcetti is garbage and always will be. His Aide is should be done for good. but let’s see if he and Garcetti will be able co-exsist without each other.
The problem with all of this is that accusing someone like this Jacobs character of something like this, when or if he stays within the circle he operates in, people will probably have 2 reactions. One will be "You're a homophobe for bringing this up." or some version of that. People will allege that there are ulterior motives (the cuts to LAPD, for instance, or someone might be accused of being a jilted lover). That's one reaction. The other one is going to be some version of "They asked for it by associating with him when everyone already knew what he was like." My argument with all of these types of allegations is the same: take the gay aspect of this out of the equation. If a man was treating women like this, especially if the behavior is as public as the author recounts, no one would associate with the man because it would be considered incredibly toxic. And no woman would ever think of acting this way: she'd be thought of as a whore. Once you take the gay angle out of it, it becomes obvious how obnoxious this is.
Good lord. It sounds as though Garcetti is pretty sure none of this will ever come out. In this day of Me Too which includes abuse victims of all kinds, I’m surprised that this situation has been allowed to just simmer so long. Who’s really holding the Aces and Kings in this game?
This obviously wasn’t easy for you to write. Very admirable. Thankfully the LA Times picked up this story so perhaps it will get additional traction.
As an adolescent, Garcetti was viewed by some as a closeted homosexual. Is it possible he has (or had) a relationship with Jacobs himself?
